Born in 1900, Henry Speller grew up Panther Burn, Mississippi. He spent his adult years in Memphis working as a junk man and musician. He played harmonica and guitar and lived just a few minutes from Beale Street. He was friends with Gus Cannon of Cannon’s Jug Stompers and Furry Lewis.
He enjoyed sitting on his porch, playing music and drawing. He said his drawings consoled him.

Henry and Georgia both did artwork and they are a couple we missed meeting and so wished we had shared some time with them.

We love both of their work and recently added to the gallery these great pieces Henry did of his favorite television shows.
