This effort helps reduce light pollution in the Big Bend International Dark Sky Reserve
the largest designation of its kind in the world, helping protect major wildlife habitats and migration corridors in the Big Bend region of Far West Texas and Northern Mexico.

Printing:
Starboard is custom printed by Dana Burton at Miller Blueprint in Austin, Texas on Hahnemühle German Etching (310 gsm · 100% α-cellulose · white · genuine mould-made paper), a traditional mould-made copperplate printing paper, complete with an inkjet coating designed especially for fine art applications. The white art paper made from 100% alpha cellulose is characterized by its extraordinary velvety tactile feel; the unique surface texture adds a very special touch to images, showcasing them in all their splendor with impressive three-dimensional effect and depth. The premium matte inkjet coating guarantees outstanding print results with excellent reproduction of color and detail, deep black and optimum contrasts. German Etching is acid- and lignin-free and meets the most exacting requirements in terms of age resistance. Miller IDS uses 12-color Canon Lucia inks;  these pigment inks are highly water-resistant and won’t fade as dye inks do. They also produce a wider color gamut; more expressive blacks, better scratch resistance, smooth gradations, better image quality in dark areas, reduced bronzing, and reduced metamerism.

Other fundraising efforts:
In addition to Starboard, which is a limited edition exclusively available at Webb Gallery, Julie Speed has also created a number of open edition fancy posters including Our Lady of the Dark Sky—offering protection against night blindness, tech zombification, and city lights—and Navigator Nun—offering protection against lost birds, space junk, and orbiting billionaires.
